A different kind of Broadway
A different kind of Broadway
No neon lights here, located as it is at the gateway to the Cotswolds and just 2 hours from London, Broadway is an easy escape from the hussle and bustle and strolling along its attractive High Street youll soon find distractions aplenty and feel the cares and stress ebbing away. As you know were easily led and the rewards of food shopping in this delightful town are too tempting to ignore. Take the Broadway deli for instance: if ever there was an opportunity to live like a local and support local produce, here it is in this beautifully packaged, traditional shop from basic staples to yummy treats, its all here and you can extend the experience by indulging in their caf or buying food to be enjoyed later in the comfort of your holiday home. Great admirers of things small and perfectly formed (ahem!), we struggle to tear ourselves away from the creamy celeriac soup, deli & cheese platters and calorie defying cakes. If you need something to wash all that down and after all youre on holiday so never mind the bog standard sauvignon (lovely though it may be), the Broadway Wine Co can offer something just a little different and with free delivery on orders over 50, why not stock up for your time away and maybe even take some home with you to prolong that holiday feeling. To continue the foodie theme, theres a wealth of choice from simple tea room to the sophisticated Dormy House where you can enjoy English grub in the relaxed potting shed or fine dining in the classy garden room. One of our personal favourites is Russells well worth a visit, it breaks the traditional mould and makes for a unique start to your holiday. For those who like to keep abreast with the up and coming, Broadway welcomed Lukes Bistro showcase of culinary whizz kid Luke Thomas just last year and so far we hear nothing but good news With stylish antique shops, galleries and a host of other independent shopping opportunities, Broadway ticks lots of grown up boxes but within easy striking distance theres heaps to keep younger members of the family entertained too. Just 8 miles away is Adam Hensons Cotswold Farm Park) and who can resist the opportunity to bottle feed a lamb or stroke a chick or rabbit? To complement the hands-on activities theres serious learning too and a relaxing wildlife walk and whilst we hesitate to return to the subject of food, as youd expect, Adams kitchen showcases homemade and locally sourced fresh produce. Great landscapes for walking, country sports, historic houses, beautiful villages and iconic market towns all within easy travelling distance, youll have no trouble filling your days and when its time to sit back and relax, weve got a few ideas of our own. Take a tour of Top Cottageperfectly placed for enjoying all that Broadway has to offer and for those who enjoy country views, nearby Jasmine Cottagecertainly ticks that box. The small but perfectly formed Holly Cottage is just a hop away and less than 10 minutes away is Oat Hill Coach House, Apple Cottage and Sheepscombe Byre.
