Its really nothing new, our mothers were doing it and our grandmothers certainly were but thank heavens for the foodie revolution which means that most of us are keen to know where the food we enjoy on our plate actually comes from and just as importantly, how it got there.Celestial thanks also that we live in a region particularly blessed with producers of organically reared meat, artisan cheeses, unique condiments, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, seasonal fruit & vegetables, preserves, flowers, all manner of cakes & delicacies, extra virgin cold-pressed rapeseed oil, the list goes onPrerequisites for our perfect week-end is a trip to the local butcher, greengrocer and bakery most of our market towns and many villages are lucky enough to still have thriving examples of these.
