Cotswold road voted Britain's 'most romantic'

Seeing off competition from the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and Grasmere in the Lake District, the picturesque road of Corpse Hill Road in Lower Slaughter has been voted Britains most romantic street. The 2011 awards, which were specially devised by Google to find and celebrate Britains best streets, focused on three specific categories; Most Romantic, Best Shopping and Britains Hippest Street. A shortlist of 20 nominations was compiled by a Google panel of experts from the world of travel, shopping and lifestyle including Visit Britain, Lonely Planet, Mr & Mrs Smith Guides, celebrities and leading journalists, before being put to the national vote. Copse Hill Road was nominated by travel editor Lisa Scott for its beautiful architecture including the picturesque 13th century church of St Marys stunning greenery and romantic ambience. After a two week vote by about 20,000 people won the Google Street View award. And if this wasnt reason enough to bring your loved one to this beautiful part of the country the Promenade in Cheltenham has been voted within the top 5 best shopping streets!
