Nationwide Forest Discovery Day at Westonbirt

A chance to get out and enjoy the fresh autumn air and hug a tree. On 11^th September 2011, Westonbirt Arboretum will be joining Forestry Commission sites across the country for a nationwide celebration of Forest Discovery Day. Everyone visiting Westonbirt will be able to take part in a variety of free activities to celebrate the International Year of Forests as well as enjoying the forest in all its early autumnal glory. The chance to experience willow crafts, meet a forest family on a trail up to the new Teds Fright play area, and find out about the different trees in a new family fun booklet are some of the activities offered. Westonbirt will also be asking visitors to hug their favourite tree and post pictures to the Forestry Commission England Facebook page to show just how much forest are loved with theworld record of a mass tree hug attempt taking place at Delamere Forest .
