Sudeley Castle's Fantastic Rose week is back

20th - 26th June 2011 A truly spectacular opportunity to see these award winning gardens in full bloom. Hundreds of varieties of old fashioned roses, some whose history even predates that of the Castle itself! The gardeners at Sudeley Castle have created, using only organic methods, what The Times called the 'Most Romantic' garden in the UK. The glorious gardens are definitely amongst the very best in England with The Tudor era recalled by the elaborate knot garden, Victorian times by the masses of yew hedges, and the present day by sumptuous plantings and wildflowers. Situated in the heart of the grounds, the Queens Garden with its finest collection of roses is certainly the centrepiece. Steeped in history, with many varied tales of royal connections, wars, period of neglect and subsequent restorations spanning a thousand years, it is no wonder that Sudeley Castle and its 14 acres of Gardens is one of Gloucestershires most popular attractions. The Castle remains the family home of Lord and Lady Ashcombe, Henry and Mollie Dent-Brocklehurst and their families, whose family apartments are available to see on selected weekdays. Theres plenty to explore for everyone. The 16th Century West Wing houses the fascinating exhibitions exploring Sudeleys history and the prominent characters that have visited or lived at the Castle. St Marys Church where Katherine Parr lies buried, Pheasantry, medieval ruins, the adventure playground and of course the gardens make an enjoyable day for all! A sight not to be missed.
