The Severn Bore

The Severn Bore is one of the Cotswolds most well known natural phenomenon. The River Severn has one of the highest tidal ranges in the world (it can reach more than 14 metres in one day). With such a vast range and a river that is just the right shape, the River Severn is one of the best places in the UK to see this natural attraction. The bore can be viewed from a number of places along the river such as Sharpness, Minsterworth and Overbridge. Bores vary in height throughout the year, but the best sightings are usually in March and September. The 20/21/22 March, 30/31 August and 28/29 September are predicted to have the best bores this year. See the Environmental Agency website for more information.
