The Spectacular Westonbirt Autumn

Its undeniable that autumn is a magical time to stroll through parks and woods and simply marvel at the amazing colours on offer before the winter sets in. So with this in mind its easy to say that autumn is a fabulous time at Westonbirt Arboretum. With 125 species of Maples and the presence of around 3000 species, the Japanese maple well known for its vibrant autumn colour, the Moon Maples who are some of the first to start their autumn transformation, The Chinese Spindle with its pretty pink delicate leaves, The Persian Ironwood and The Hickories with their pure yellow foliage, you just need to make sure you have your trail map in hand so not to miss the best! But in Westonbirt its not all about sight as some trees here also produce rich aromas at this time of year. The very best for this is the Katsura which is from Japan and China, which complements its rich autumn colours with a smell similar to burnt caramel or candyfloss. There are also half term activities for families on offer where you can discover why trees change colours as well as letting imaginations loose with some tree inspired art. Different activities are programmed each day so thats a definite excuse not to have rush round and come back another day!
